"It is December, and nobody asked if I was ready" - Sarah Kay
That about sums up my feelings for the shift in seasons every year. Don't get me wrong, I love holiday lights, time with family and friends, and I bake up a storm for our Christmas party. But I also hate being cold, I need lots of sunshine to feel alive (a lot more than Ohio winters tend to provide), and I tend to end up cozying up with some tea and avoiding most of my responsibilities until Spring starts to peek out.
It's also a weird time professionally, as November beckons in the end of the busy season for photography. Sure, there's a little bit of a rush as people get holiday cards done, but nothing close to the pace of August and September weddings. It's a good time to bunker down and clean up the portfolio, redesign materials, and get brainstorming.
So without further adieu, here are my goals for December:
Perfect the Christmas light portrait. I've had an idea in my head for a couple weeks of a different way to shoot these, and I finally get to try it out next weekend!
Make, purchase, and wrap all the gifts. I think we all have this on our goals for this month, but since I've literally only purchased one gift so far for the season it seems apt to put it on here.
Evaluate workflow, look for holes and changes that need to be made.
Get a pedicure and a massage. Since both the business and my graduate school program are winding down it feels like a treat yoself day is in order.
Start working on a bridal guide.
Plan a winter party. This goal entails purging some crap out of my house, coming up with a cute theme, and baking all the things but I am so overdue for some relaxing time with friends.
What are your goals for the month ahead?
